Chennai super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Rohit and Ishan entered the field to open for Mumbai Indians . They perform very well in the initial overs but couldn't keep up. Rohit scored 21 runs of 13 balls and Ishan scored 32 runs of 21 balls. But even after the outstanding start the dynamic duo of Jadeja and Santner destroyed Mumbai Indians batting line up. Jadeja and Santner took 5 wickets in total. After their spell came to an end Tilak Verma and Tim David tried their best to led MI to a Total of 157 runs in cost of 8 wickets.

CSK needed 158 runs in 120 balls to get their second win in this season. Conway and Gaikwad came to field to start the second half of the match. But unfortunately Conway got ducked and Mumbai Indians had a great start . Although this didn't last long, Rahane came at 3 and smashed Mumbai bowlers .He scored 61 runs in 27 balls with a strike rate of 225 . Along with Ruturaj he formed a great partnership and gave CSK a clear path to victory. Gaikwad remained on the crease till the last moment scoring 40 runs and CSK won by 7 wickets by a dazzling boundary of Rayudu.
