 Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans Highlights 

The first match of Indian Super League (IPL) 2023 was played between Chennai super Kings and Gujarat Titans . Gujarat Titans won the toss and opt to bowl first saying that they would love to bowl first in the start of the new season. The starting line up was as follow :

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI: Devon Conway. Ruturaj Gaikwad. Moeen Ali. Ben Stokes. Ambati Rayudu. Shivam Dube. Ravindra Jadeja. MS Dhoni(w/ c). Mitchell Santner. Deepak Chahar Rajvardhan Hangargekar .

CSK started with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway . Conway could only make 1run and got bowled by Sami in third over.

Gaikwad played a incredable innings of 92runs in just 50 balls with a strike rate of 184 .Dhoni finishes the innings with 14 runs in 7 balls leading csk to a total of 178 in 20 overs in cost of 7 wickets.

 

Gujarat Titans need 179 runs in 120 balls to win the match. The titans started the match agressively and scored 65 runs in power play with loosing only one Wicket. The two openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill gave the titans a momentum to victory.

Gill scored 63 runs in 36 balls with a strike rate of 175. This motivated the team and eventually led to victory. The middle order stumbled a little but Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia finishes the match with a boundary. Gujarat Titans won by 5 wickets.

Although csk youngsters like Hangargekar bowled an excellent spell of 3 wickets it was not enough to stop the titans.

Both teams put their best bu titans came on the top.

After the match MS Dhoni: We all knew there will be dew. We could have done a bit more with the batsman ship. Ruturaj (Gaikwad) was brilliant. he times the ball well and he's a pleasure to watch. The way he picks his options. it is pleasing to watch. I think it's important for the youngsters to step in. I think Raj (Hangargekar) has pace and he will get bowler with time. Think the bowlers will get better. a no-ball is something that's in your control. so you need to work on that. I felt two left armers will be a better option so I went ahead with them. Shivam was an option. but I felt comfortable with the bowlers overall.

Shubman Gill: Felt pretty good. Little bit disappointed with myself for getting out. But getting off to a good start is very important for the team. Definitely makes a difference when you've got runs under your belt at International level. Wicket is so good as a batsman. Don't have to overhit. just have to time it well and it flies. No specific roles given to us. It's just about who gets set. We have to play the situation. Today we were chasing not a very high score. but a high-ish total. So the intent from Wriddhi bhai was to get as many runs as possible in the powerplay.
