The second match of Indian Premier league was played between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders .

Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first and set a target to chase and win the match.

The match started with Punjab openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh giving a proper momentum to Punjab. Prabhsimran Singh scored 23 runs of 12 balls and Dhawan scored 40 runs of 29 balls.Bhanuka Rajapaksa came at No 3 and scored 50 runs in 32 balls. Sam Curran and Shahrukh Khan finishes the innings and led Punjab to a total of 191runs while loosing only 5 wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders needed 192 runs in 120 balls to win and start the season with a victory. To achieve their first win Kolkata send Mandeep and Gurbaz as openers. But they fail to live upto Kolkata Knight Riders hope, Mandeep scored only 2 runs in 4 balls and Gurbaz could only score 22 runs. Ankul Roy couldn't do much either.All hopes then lies on the shoulder of Nitish Rana , Venkatesh Iyer and Russell.They tried their best, rotated the strike and consistently added runs in the score board. But unfortunately rain stopped the match from proceeding further.

PBKS won by 7runs with DLS method and Punjab starts the 2023 season with a victory over Kolkata Knight Riders.
